France: 70% of all electrical energy comes from nuclear power plants, generating greenhouse gas emissions of only one sixth of the European average

Production of electrical energy generates 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy. Creating low carbon energy system which enables world growing population to have access to cheaper and more reliable energy is at the heart of the fight against climate change. In France, nuclear power plants produce 70% of all electrical energy, while their greenhouse gas emissions are only one sixth of the European average.
